As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Koun Khmer Foundation is on a mission to close the educational gap and unlock the potential of rural Khmer students across Cambodia. Our passion is fueled by the belief that education is not just a privilege but a fundamental human right.
Koun Khmer is dedicated to providing Cambodian children in rural areas with access to quality secondary education and the resources they need to succeed in today’s world. As survivors of the Cambodian genocide, we understand the transformative power of education. By equipping schools with internet, computers, and educational tools, we aim to empower students to become confident learners and leaders in their communities.
Founded on the principles of inclusivity and empowerment, our organization is rooted in the personal journey of a Cambodian immigrant who survived the harrowing genocide of 1975 and experienced firsthand the transformative power of education. Having benefited from educational opportunities in the United States, we are driven to ensure that no student is left behind due to a lack of access to technology and resources.
We believe that every child, irrespective of their background or circumstances, deserves the chance to thrive in the digital age. By providing essential tools, internet access, and hardware, we empower Khmer students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.
